Eastern Connecticut Ballet
Commencing in September 2021, Eastern Connecticut Ballet has a position available for a Principal Ballet Teacher and School Curriculum/Program Coordinator. This teacher will be responsible for ensuring consistency of instruction across all levels and will be part of an artistic team that works to create appropriate performance opportunities for students.
This teacher will work with Artistic Director Gloria Govrin, former NYCB soloist and Balanchine technique master teacher. Significant teaching experience and knowledge of pedagogy (classical ballet technique with a Balanchine influence) are required. The candidate must be a team player with communication, leadership and organizational skills. The teacher’s primary focus will be levels 2-6 (ages 8-13) with an opportunity to instruct more advanced levels. The candidate must appreciate the value of training young dancers, understand how to work with children and be able to instill discipline in a compassionate, motivational manner.
This position includes approximately 15-20 hours per week of classroom teaching along with rehearsals for The Nutcracker, Ballet Spooktacular, and the Spring Showcase. This teacher will also organize periodic faculty curriculum meetings.
