Attention, Presence, and Interaction: A Creative Workshop with Caleb Nussear and Peter Kyle

April 10 @ 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Practitioners and movers, performers, makers, and creatives of every level are invited to take part in a special introductory virtual workshop exploring attention, presence, and interaction with visual artist, Caleb Nussear, and dancer/choreographer, Peter Kyle (Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance, Trinity College).

Guiding our work will be the principles of Slow Tempo, an extreme slow movement practice developed by Japanese theater artist Shogo Ota. As we tune into the body, we will learn  to fold large format paper sculptures (miura) before exploring physically how they bring us into experiencing what Ota described as “being here.”

NOTE: We will work in small and large formats, so participants should have on hand one or two sheets of regular 8.5”x11” printer or scrap paper, AND one or two sheets of any large lightweight paper, ca. 40”x30”, or as desired.

To learn about/practice your paper folding ahead of time, watch this YouTube video.
