The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Half Day Program is an award winning inter-district magnet high school that offers a half-day pre-professional art program for students throughout the Greater Hartford area. Celebrating 38 years in Hartford, the Academy has focused on developing the fullest academic and artistic potential in all students, encouraging them to be creative, engaged citizens, and preparing them to pursue careers in the arts.
Our students prepare for a career in dance in a conservatory setting studying multiple levels of ballet, modern and dance composition as well as other dance and arts courses. Students have dance classes from 1pm – 4:15pm while maintaining their academic schedule at their home high schools in the morning. The Dance Department’s mission is to create a climate ofprofessionalism which encourages all students to expand their technicalknowledge and creative abilities as dancers.
