The Judy Dworin Performance Project [JDPP] seeks qualified applicants for the position of Director of Community Engagement. JAZZ II-Broadway and Film Dance: Instructor opening at Naugatuck Valley Community College
The dance department at Naugatuck Valley Community College has an opening for spring semester for an instructor for DAN*H112 Jazz II: Broadway and Theatre Dance. The applicant should have a Masters degree. We need someone who is knowledgeable of the mid-20th century jazz dance styles and should have technique in Jack Cole, Luigi, Matt Mattox, and/or Giordano and Fosse. The candidate also needs to be able to handle student papers, quizzes or tests and critiques, as well as the practicum parts of class. Ideally the candidate will have had experience with theater dance or a jazz company.
DAN*H112 Jazz II: Broadway and Theatre Dance is a three credit course scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:10 – 12:30 with a capacity of 20 students-it always fills! It is a 100’s level course so both majors (a requirement) and non-majors take this course held in our dance studio. I can provide a syllabus, text order (last year James Robey used JUMP INTO JAZZ. I’ve used various texts over the years), and video/DVDs to support this course that has a reading/writing component. Salary is on a standard adjunct faculty scale.
